Was a regular writer in our two local newspapers. In 2012, Mike and Lorraine founded Your Glendale Community Newsletter started with a few hundred readers and today nearly 25,000. Our all-volunteer newsletter was always self-funded without advertisements. In 2026, decided to expand our readership with a website., and thus, we are asking our readers for gifts to sustain our newsletter.

Mike Mohill, who turns 84 this year, has always been interested in government and history. In 1955, Mike’s father, a finished carpenter, built his dream home in Glendale near the Glendale Sports Center off Fern Lane Street. Since age 12 attended all the schools of Glendale, graduating from Glendale High School in 1960. Attended Los Angeles City College and later transferred to California State College, Los Angeles, graduating with a B.A. degree in Geography and a minor in Business Administration. For nearly 27 years was a road salesman.

After college, Mike served 3 years in the US Army, including 1 year in Vietnam. Married in 1970 to Lorraine and became a Glendale homeowner in 1977. Fighting the Indigenous Tree Ordinance brought Mike to City Hall and has been a city fixture ever since. Became a Glendale City Council spoiler candidate in 2011 to eliminate either Councilman Dave Weaver or John Drayman. Was successful getting “honest” John out of the office, who later went to jail and became a 3-time convicted felon. Since then, ran for City Council three additional times.

Was a founding member of the Glendale Coalition for Better Government.
